Data Engineer-Contract to Hire

Job Summary


The Data Engineer will contribute to the full lifecycle of data pipeline, analytics, business
intelligence, and data science platforms at different stages of maturity, to leverage data as an
asset that enables the success of the organization.

Primary Responsibilities


● Deliver solutions that balance technical and business goals and delight Members, teams,
and partners
● Guide translation of team ideas and requests from requirements into live products and
services
● Contribute to product development to ensure data is leveraged and properly handled in
all touch points
● Manage workload and collaborate with teams by using Agile Scrum and Kanban
methodologies
● Think independently and creatively to achieve team goals while laying the foundation for
growth
● Provide advice and support to team and leadership in strategic and tactical decisions
● Perform technical peer reviews of work product to ensure quality construction
● Test data pipelines and perform data analysis

Required Experience

  • 5+ years data/SQL experience (Google BigQuery, SQL Server)
  • 3+ years ETL development experience (Composer/Airflow, SSIS, Cloud Functions, Dataflow,
  • DataFusion)
  • 2+ years of experience using Agile methodologies
  • 1+ years Python

Preferred Experience


● BI tools (Tableau, MicroStrategy, Business Objects, Cognos)
● Structured programming, web, mobile development (SQL, JavaScript, Python, Angular,
NodeJS/GO, HTML, XML, Android, iOS)
● Middleware (MQ, SOA, Segment, Zapier, Apigee)
● Cloud application integrations (Workday, Salesforce, Zendesk, Airtable)
● Data warehouse development and maintenance
● Collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence)
● Big data and NoSQL platforms (BigQuery, Hadoop, MongoDb)
● Source control (Git preferred)

Essential Skills


● Excellent problem solving and communication skills in troubleshooting and resolving
technical challenges
● Strong collaboration ability with management, peers, and external teams to accomplish
deliverables
● Ability to work independently with advanced tools and techniques to integrate web sites,
apps, and systems
● Proficient with full-cycle SDLC (requirements analysis, design, evals, development,
testing, deployment)
● Create and maintain documentation (design documents, release logs, system diagrams)
● Strong planning skills, including mapping out dependencies, milestones, estimates and
timelines
● Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment, succeed under pressure, and effectively
manage time and workload
● Analysis – Examines data and facts to uncover and understand cause-effect
relationships, thus providing a basis for problem solving and decision making.
● Interprets results of analysis, prepares and presents outcomes to senior leadership

Education


Bachelor’s degree in related area (Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical
discipline) or an equivalent combination of education and experience (minimum of high school
diploma)
